Workshop set on federal research grants

A workshop to teach entrepreneurs and technology developers how to win federal research grants is scheduled June 11 in Reno.

The one-day workshop sponsored by the Nevada Small Business Development Center will be taught by John Davis, a consultant with JADE Research Corp., who works with government contractors and aerospace firms to acquire federal funding.

He'll show companies how to apply for federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Programs.

In recent years, nearly a dozen Nevada companies have received grants through the programs, and the grants that can total more than $1 million, said Fritz Grupe, the SBIR program manager for the Nevada Small Business Development Center.

This workshop is limited to 25 participants. The Nevada Small Business Development Center will provide a $200 subsidy to one representative from the first 10 Nevada companies participating.

Full cost of the workshop is $325.
