Thank you Carson for helping fall victim

Good people in Carson City, I have lived here since 1965 and love the people. On May 4, my mother-in-law's niece and two nephews were walking down Saliman Road by the high school and her niece fell.

Before she could get up, a car with a nurse stopped and a security guard came with help. They checked her out and told her where the urgent care was in case she had problems. The lady put her in her car and drove her back to the motel.

On May 5, we had my mother-in-law's 100th birthday party, and all her niece could talk about was how great Carson City was. I don't know the names of the people who helped her, but I thank you.

Everyone should experience car auction

A year ago, I had no clue who Garth Richards was. When I heard he was going to sell part of his classic car collection right here in Carson City at a golf course, my first thought was, "Here we go, some fly-by-night event using the Hot August Nights crowd to sell some cars because of the economy."

I went to Silver Oak Golf Course the first day of the sale out of curiosity and to verify my suspicions. I was wrong. Boy, was I wrong! What I saw was a top-notch operation. The car collection being sold - more than 100 cars at no reserves - was fantastic. Edsel convertibles, numerous old Cadillacs and Lincolns, retractable Fords, Crosleys, a Hudson pickup truck. It was really something.

The sale attracted buyers from all over the United States and about nine countries, all bringing a ton of money to Carson City for at least a week. The local economy benefited immensely - hotels/motels, restaurants, casinos, auto parts stores, retail stores - huge boon.

I immediately signed up as a buyer and ended up buying two cars. The last night there was a complimentary party with food and drink and a dancing horses show that was spectacular. On the last night there was a fireworks display for everyone in Carson City to enjoy.

They are having a second sale in August at the golf course, and I urge anyone interested in classic cars to attend.
