Obituary: Cathy Jean Priess

Cathy Jean Priess, resident of Carson City, Nevada since 2000, was granted her angel wings on May 15, 2012. Cathy's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She was a wife to her best friend for 40 years, a mother to four, mother-in-law to two, and a grandmother 'Mema' to three. Her family was her life, and she dedicated every ounce of her being to the people she loved most. She had the most beautiful smile and had an amazing way of bringing joy to those around her. The pride she had in her family radiated throughout everything she did. She beat uterine cancer in 2010-2011; and fought hard when faced with heart issues in May of 2012. It seems almost impossible to sum up what an amazing person she was; her patience, love, and understanding are immeasurable.

Cathy was born on January 30, 1954 to John and Margaret Lengler in Clifton, New Jersey.

Cathy married the love of her life, David Priess, on October 27, 1973. Cathy and David moved from New Jersey to Florida, and then to Arizona where they spent almost 20 years building a life together. In 2000, they moved the entire family to Carson City, Nevada.

Cathy is survived by her husband, David Priess; her daughter, Candice Priess-Rasner; her son, Timothy Priess with his fiance Mandy; her daughter, Courtney Ghiglieri with her husband Rob; her daughter, Caitlin Priess; and her three grandchildren, Bailey, Alison, and Brody. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Lengler, and her brother John Lengler.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, John Lengler, and sister, Susan Magee.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be June 2, 2012 at 11am, Walton's Chapel of the Valley 1281 N. Roop Street Carson City, NV 89706. The family has kindly asked for no black attire at the celebration.
