Developers of South Creek center add another building

McKenzie Properties has begun construction of the fifth building at its South Creek shopping center, and Principal Todd Mckenzie expects to break ground on another two buildings in the next few months.

Reno-based McKenzie Properties is adding an additional 6,632 square feet to the center at Foothill Road and South Virginia Street, and three of the five spaces already have tenants. Additional retail includes:

* Soak, a nail salon that also will serve libations

* J Hill Boutique, a women's cloth and jewelry store that's expanding from its location inside Juniper Hill Furniture.

Bibo Coffee Co., which is expanding into its fourth Reno location.

McKenzie is working on two additional leases and expects the new building to be fully leased in the next two weeks. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy by Oct. 1, McKenzie says.

The next phase of development at South Creek includes erecting two more buildings in the next few months. One will be a 5,435-square-foot retail building adjacent to the Los Compadres, while the other will be a 5,469-square-foot medical office building.

Leasing continues to surpass expectations, McKenzie says. Yosh's Unique Deli is expanding into a total of 2,970 square feet and will fill out the rest of original retail building fronting Foothill Road.

"We are doing quite well considering market conditions," McKenzie says. "By now we though we would have the whole center done, but we still have four more buildings to go. But we have a fantastic tenant mix, and that mix has exceeded expectations."
