Western Nevada College honored 41 associate degree nursing graduates during a traditional nurse pinning ceremony this week at the Carson Nugget in Carson City.
Several graduates were recognized with achievement awards, including Amanda Hall, Academic Award and Nevada Student Nurse of Achievement Award; Tamiya Ferguson, WNC Spirit of Nursing Award; and Kelli McDonnell and Leanna Ogle, Associated Students of Western Nevada Outstanding Student of the Year - Nursing Award.
Graduates were ceremoniously pinned by family members or friends who supported them during their studies and clinical work. Many emphasized the time and effort it takes to achieve a nursing degree, and the value of encouragement by family and friends.
"What a journey this has been," said graduate Lindsey Foxen. "It would not have been possible without the amazing instructors. They were a pillar of support, an epitome of strength, as loving as a mother, as strict as a father, as caring as a friend, disciplinarians, yet always so approachable and warm at heart. They have been my mentors and role models for the past two years, and I am proud to have been taught by them."
