Parade behavior uncalled forI am a 70-year-old female native Nevadan. While watching the Nevada Day parade this year, I exercised my rights as a U.S. citizen to hold up a sign supporting the presidential candidate of my choice, “Women for Obama.” A male, “Veterans for Romney,” at least 30 years my junior, marching in the parade, came up to me with an anger-distorted face and engaged in an obscene gesture with his breasts.I was appalled by his boorish behavior, which indicates to me he is either unaware of the Constitutional rights of all U.S. citizens to support the candidate of their choice without fear, or he believes Constitutional rights only apply to him and he has a right to intimidate those who do not agree with him.Pat HomeyerRenoTroopers helped save horses, driversA huge thank-you to the two Nevada Highway Patrol troopers who protected the highway, the wild horses and me on Nov. 1 around 5:30 p.m.The troopers alerted those of us driving through Mound House that the horses were present on the road and even gently helped move the horses off the road. Thank you for getting us all home safely. And drivers, please remember, we share Highway 50 with the wild horses, especially now when food sources are running out.
