Letters to the editor

Candidate thankful for opportunityHaving just run, albeit unsuccessfully, for election to the office of Carson City Justice of the Peace (my sincere congratulations to Judge Armstrong), I would like to extend my thanks to the voters of Carson City for their encouragement of my campaign. Whether or not individuals eventually supported me with their votes, their good will continually impressed me. Too often we hear (and even sometimes speak?) disparaging comments about “politicians.” Yet I was very pleasantly surprised that the voters in our community respect candidates for putting themselves on the line to run for political office. I enjoyed every minute of the process of campaigning. I encourage others to undertake the process, to ensure that our democratic process continues to be healthy. You will not regret the effort. Thank you, voters! Michael BellCandidate for Carson City Justice of the Peace, Department 1School board member thanks supportersI want to offer my sincere thanks to all my family, friends and supporters who helped me get elected to the Carson City School Board, District 7. No matter the outcome, I was already a winner because of each of you. I promise to work hard to understand all sides of the issues we will face, and provide intelligent, informed recommendations as we move the school district through these difficult times. Again, thank you!Joe CacioppoCarson City
