Dayton Food Pantry benefits from The Misfits show, pantry's auction

The combined efforts of the Dayton Food Pantry's silent auction and the Oct. 12 performance of a melodrama by The Misfits Theater Group raised $1,080 and cans of food aplenty.

"We had a great show, exceeded our goal and had a lot of fun entertaining the community," said Carol Bauer of The Misfits Theater Group.

"We were quite pleased that we were able to assist the Dayton Food Pantry and raise over $1,000," added Kay Thornburg, also of the theater group.

The proceeds came from the opening night show of the melodrama "Hollywood Hearthrob" at the Odeon Hall in Dayton. The show also ran on Oct. 13, 19 and 20.

About a dozen baskets containing crafts, jewelry, books and other items were in the silent auction.

The Misfits spokeswomen credited Sue Vanus and Laura Krauf, also of Dayton, with preparing the baskets to help raise money for a good cause.

They also said many people from the community donated money, and gave a special thanks to Pioneer Crossing for making a generous financial contribution.
