Obituary: Sharyn K. Peal

Sharyn K. Peal died September 11, 2012 and will be missed by all of her friends and family, especially her long time companion, Woody. She is survived by two brothers, Charles (Laura) and James ( Susan) Peal and a nephew and niece. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles; her mother, Kathleen and her sister, Norma. Plans for a memorial service in her honor will be announced at a later date.

Sharyn was born in Shadyside, Ohio in 1948. She received her Master's Degree in Education from the Ohio State University in 1979. She moved to Carson City in 1985 and worked for the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and for the Department of Education for the State of Nevada. During her years at the Department of Education, Sharyn spent countless hours establishing and maintaining after-school programs for children throughout the State of Nevada. She retired from the State of Nevada in 2011.

Sharyn was devoted to her friends, all animals, and to the causes she believed in. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Best Friends Animal Society or to Advocates to End Domestic Violence in Sharyn's name.
