Heavenly Mountain Resort has installed 10 energy-efficient guns to produce artificial snow, a move that is projected to reduce its energy consumption for snowmaking by approximately 378,000 kilowatt hours a year.
The resort received a $29,913 rebate through the NV Energy Sure Bet energy efficiency program for new construction.
The new equipment is on the ski resort's Lower Stagecoach ski run on the Nevada side of the mountain.
