Two crashes leave four dead in Douglas Co.

Four people died between Saturday night and early Sunday morning in

Douglas County after one traffic accident left three dead and another accident left one other person dead.

Three people died when a 2007 Nissan Frontier crossed the

center line and drove head-on into a 1995 Geo Metro near Leviathan

Mine Road and U.S. Highway 395 at 11:57 p.m. Saturday night, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Frontier, as well as the driver of the Geo and the

passenger in the Geo, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

The Frontier was "driving erratically," according to witnesses, Nevada

Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton said.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, she said.

Highway 395 was closed for five hours, she said.

A second accident at 4:38 a.m. Sunday killed a person driving a white

1991 Jeep Wrangler. The driver attempted to turn right Lucerne St.,

hit the curb and possibly over corrected, and the Wrangler rolled

over, Stapleton said. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and as

the vehicle rolled, the driver was partially ejected.

The driver died from injuries at the Carson Valley Medical Center.
