Playing on their home course at Eagle Valley-East, the Carson High golfers turned in their best showing of the season.

Led by Erica Gallegos' 87, the Senators shot a 364 to finish third in the weekly Sierra League Invitational on Monday afternoon.

Bishop Manogue won the event with a 350, seven strokes better than Galena. Wooster was fourth with a 375 and Douglas was fifth at 380.

"Yeah, it helped (playing at Eagle Valley)," coach Jeff Rispin said. "We played a little better today. I was still disappointed in some of the scores.

"Erica beat her previous best by quite a bit. I think we're starting to jell. Hopefully we can carry it over to next week (Tuesday at Wolf Run)."

Heather Evans shot an 88 and Callen Aten had a solid 91. Taylor Krupp shot a 98.

The medalist was Manogue's Carly Farthing with an 80.

Carson-McQueen tie

Carson and McQueen tied during Monday's Division 1 soccer game. Despite a dominating time of possession and scoring opportunities, Carson was unable to score.

Cristian Hernandez missed a penalty kick for the Senators.

Defensively, Michael Samii played exceptional in midfield according to coach Mehdi Samii. The coach credited his back line play of Zach Smith, as well as Cruz Kerver, Adam Shof and Nathan King. Goalie Jose Gonzalez was solid against for the Senators.

Carson hosts Damonte Ranch at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
