Northern Nevada collegians finalists in business-plan contest

Ten teams of collegians from northern Nevada are among the finalists in The Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition.

Finalists from the region include:

• CH4OICE, a graduate-student team from the University of Nevada, Reno. Its plan calls for development technology to convert carbon dioxide into methanol.

• ContinuEd.me, a graduate-student from UNR. It product, ContinuEd.me, steamlines the process of tracking and meeting continuing education requirements for licensed professionals.

• DataBeam Inc., a team of graduate students at UNR with a patented system to store electronic information at

the molecular level.

• ElectroVentures, Inc., a graduate-student team from UNR that plans to sell clothing, costumes, and accessories to the $4 billion electronic dance music industry.

• EscaZyme Biochemicals LLC, a graduate-student team from UNR that’s developing specialized chemicals for pest control.

• Northern Nevada Studios, an undergraduate team from Sierra Nevada College with plans for a movie production studio.

• Pure Ski Experience, an SNC undergraduate team that’s developing teaching methods that use the skills of world-class skiiers.

• UrbanFeat, LLC, a team of SNC students that’s developing a mobile and smart-phone application for restaurants, bars and other venues.

Northern Nevada teams that are finalists for the Lt. Governor’s Award for green technology include:

• Carbon Gold, a UNR graduate-student team working to convert carbon dioxide emissions from power plants into green fuel.

• Sierra Green Products LLC, a UNR team with plans for a cost-effective faucet made form recycled ABS plstic.

CH4OICE and DataBeam also are finalists for the Lt. Governor’s Award.
