Carson man jailed after allegedly threatening to shoot deputies

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday after allegedly threatening to shoot Carson City and Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to the Sheriff’s Office:

A deputy was dispatched to a home in the 2700 block of Mayflower Way in Carson City to look for a green Ford station wagon that had been involved in a hit-and-run at the Bunny Ranch. He noticed a broken tail light on the car and knocked on the home’s door.

After a verbal exchange, Francisco Avalos came to the door and moved his right arm toward the deputy’s face, followed by his left arm. After a struggle, the deputy was able to handcuff Avalos.

Avalos told the deputy he was lucky Avalos hadn’t sent his dog after him. Another deputy told Avalos that the dog would have been shot had it attacked, and he replied, “I will shoot all of you guys.”

Avalos was arrested on suspicion of felony intimidating a police officer, obstructing an officer and minor consuming alcohol. Bail was set at $10,000. He remained at the Carson City Jail on Thursday afternoon.
