Smoke is still coming as fire grows to 1,750 acres

TRUCKEE — The American fire has grown to 1,750 acres, according to a Tuesday morning update from the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire has burning in Tahoe National Forest since Saturday.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the fire is burning in a heavily forested area of steep terrain on Deadwood Ridge, about 17 miles northeast of Foresthill, Calif.

Smoke from it has been drifting into surrounding valleys, including Eagle Valley.

The fire’s size is up from an estimated 1,200 acres Monday afternoon.

The fire is not threatening any homes or structures. Its cause is under investigation.
