Firefighters respond to a structure fire on Industrial Parkway in Mound House on Tuesday morning.
A fire damaged a Mound House spice-manufacturing company Tuesday morning.
The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District got a call about the fire at 7:47 a.m., said Chief John Gillenwater. Also according to Gillenwater:
When firefighters arrived at the building, at 59 Industrial Parkway, it was filled with smoke. It sustained substantial smoke damage and moderate fire damage.
No one was hurt. Employees were just arriving for work when the fire was burning, Gillenwater said.
“Central Lyon County companies were there first and encountered heavy smoke,” he said. “We called for mutual aid from Carson City and also Storey County. We called for mutual aid from the State Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation.”
At first, the fire appeared set to do heavier damage than it did, Gillenwater said.
“You plan for the worst and hope for the best,” he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
