The Bureau of Land Management approved Ormat Nevada Inc.’s 40-megawatt Casa Diablo IV geothermal project near Mammoth Lakes in Mono County, Calif., last week. Ormat is headquartered in Reno.
The 40-megawatt plant will be built on both private land and land administered by the Inyo National Forest. The construction is expected to employ 180 workers.
When completed, the plant should produce enough energy to supply electricity to 36,000 homes.
