A Ride to Tahoe (continued from Wednesday). “Yank’s” new place. In not-so-much-picturesque in lake scenery, the road runs by the shore offering a beautiful view of the mountain sea with Yank’s place nine miles from Friday’s and five from Roland’s. The hotel is built 40 yards from the water with it being the most beautiful situation of any place on the lake (continued Friday).

A few days ago was the report of finding a dead man on Eden Creek in Humboldt County by ex-judge Bonnifield. An inquest was held and the coroner’s jury found the deceased, a native of Ireland, 55, was death by exposure and thirst and further found the deceased was of unsound mind.

Jack Heidenreich, who came down from Glenbrook last evening, states that the Kings Canyon road is again passable. The road was washed in and out, the damage extending nearly a mile. A crew will have the road as good as ever soon.

If you are planning a trip that requires extra gas and the ration board determines you are entitled to it, you will need to have your tires inspected by an OPA inspector and present the certificate to the county rationing board showing the tires can make the trip. If they are not, you must have your tires recapped first.

A “weird” bat has been captured here in the halls of a local hotel and taken to Reno to determine if it is rabid, according to police. A fifth rabid bat has been captured in Nevada elsewhere recently.

The Nevada State Governor’s Cup Tennis Finals are slated for Centennial Park. The tournament was started by Gov. Paul Laxalt to promote tennis.
