The downside of working for yourself? No company holiday party.
Hub Coffee Roasters, a daytime stopping place in downtown Reno for many self-employed programmers, Web developers, writers and the like, looks to provide some holiday cheer to self-employers workers with a party Wednesday.
About 80 folks are expected for the first-ever Self-Employed Holiday Party at the newest Hub location at 727 Riverside Drive. The event runs from 7-9 p.m.
Mark Trujillo, owner of Hub Coffee Roasters, said last week that 30 tickets had been sold within the first couple of days. (They’re $15, and proceeds benefit Communities United to End Sex Trafficking.)
Trujillo developed the idea in concert with Loren Condron and Chris Ewing of Dotted & Crossed Marketing, who work as marketing consultants to Hub.
Condron noted that the recession created more home-based entrepreneurs and self-employed folks, and they’re hungry for an opportunity to get out of their solo offices and network with like-minded business owners.
Trujillo said Hub is using the event as a way to showcase other independently owned business in the downtown area. Drinks will be provided by Craft Wine & Beer; food by Imperial Bar and Lounge & Spa.
