The weather not infrequently gets itself up in such absurd fashion as to demand our reprehension and critical notice, but these irregularities have been more in the nature of misdemeanors rather than in crimes, and we have not been disposed to be too severe in the matter thereof, but the performances of Mr. J. Frost two nights past are too flagrant to be let off without a mere passing reprimand (continued Tuesday).

The new Secretary of the Senate, Maj. Anson G. McCook, is of the “Fighting McCook Family, an old Californian, and is presumably known to several Carson people. Since the close of the war, Maj. McCook has resided in New York City and has represented that city in the lower branch of Congress. It is considered a high honor to have this deserving man.

100 years ago

At a brief session of the city trustees last night, Alexander MacDonald was elected mayor. MacDonald has been a resident of the city for more than 30 years employed as a locomotive engineer.

In a full page ad, the Distilled Spirits Institute of Washington, D.C., addressed negative publicity on the shortage of Whiskey in Nevada.

The Carson High School basketball team handily beats the Yerington Lions 56-44.

Reno brothel owner Joe Conforte would have his federal tax evasion sentence reduced from five years to 15 months under an agreement in court today. Conforte recently returned from exile in Brazil.
