Obituary: Juanita C. Dobbins

Juanita C. Dobbins, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at her home in Carson City on Feb. 2, 2013 after a long illness, she was 88 years old. Juanita was born on Sep. 18, 1924 in Tacoma, Wash., to Thomas and Etta Ligman. She moved to Carson City with her husband Paul Dobbins (deceased) in January 1980.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Dobbins; four brothers; one sister; and a daughter, Kristine Fiegehen. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Shell and husband, Steve of Carson City; son, Jon Carlson and wife, Kathy of Corinth, Texas; sister, Patricia Safford and husband, Don of Hamden, Mass.; and her dear friend of 66 years, Bill Nuessle of Lakeside, Calif. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild, all who lovingly called her "Naunny" and many nieces and nephews.

Juanita, many knew as "Nita", was a member of Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was most proud of the 10 plus years she volunteered as the manager of the Carson Tahoe Hospital gift shop where she made many cherished friendships.

At Juanita's request there will be no services. The family asks of anyone wishing to make a donation in Juanita's name please do so to Carson Tahoe Cancer Center (1535 Medical Park Way, Carson City, NV, 89703) in memory of her husband, Paul Dobbins and daughter, Kristine Fiegehen.

The family wants to thank Dr. Andrea Weed for the many years of exceptional, quality and loving care she gave to our mother and grandmother. Also we want to thank St. Mary's Hospice for their tenderness and compassion during the days of her final journey.
