Late-season white-goose hunt scheduled

Northern Nevada hunters who missed the white-goose-hunting season will get another chance Sunday through Feb. 28.The Nevada Department of Wildlife, in line with federal regulations, have instituted a late-season white-goose hunt. White geese are both the snow goose and Ross’s Goose, according to NDOW.“This hunt allows sportsmen to take advantage of these white geese on their return migration trip,” said Russell Woolstenhulme, a NDOW biologist. “Traditionally in Nevada, waterfowl season is already over.”In addition to a hunt license, a Nevada Duck Stamp is required to hunt for those ages 12 to 64, and an additional Federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Stamp is required for anyone 16 or older. The Nevada stamp costs $10 and the federal stamp costs $16. New stamps are not required for hunters who already have them.More information is available at www.ndow.org.
