Startup Weekend Reno, a crash-course designed to create new businesses within a weekend, has scheduled an event in Reno Feb. 22-24.
Daniel Herr, organizer of the event, says it works like this:
On Friday evening of Startup Weekend Reno, participants will get 60 seconds each to pitch their ideas, which typically are for Web or mobile applications.
Top ideas are selected by a vote, and participants spend the rest of the weekend bringing an idea to life. The goal is completion of a new company by 9 p.m. on Sunday evening.
In all, the process of identifying and creating the basic elements of a new company is expected to occur in about 50 hours.
Herr says organizers are expecting about 50 participants.
The nonprofit Startup Weekend, an organization headquartered in Seattle, has conducted more than 325 events nationwide since 2007.
