Startup focuses on parcels for military personnel

Military Parcel Xpress Corp., a company that provides expedited military parcel services, has been launched in Reno by veteran logistics industry executive Frans Nelson.

The company initially will employ 12. It's headquartered at 50 W. Liberty St.

Nelson said the company will use proprietary software to track parcels sent to military personnel.

He said those parcels now can take 10 to 45 days to reach their designations, and Military Parcel Xpress looks to cut that time to five to 10 days.

The owner of the office building in which the company is located, Basin Street Properties, was represented in lease negotiations by Scott Shanks, a senior vice president and principal of NAI Alliance.
