(AP) - Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto is enlisting the support of anyone who will listen for her anti-sex trafficking bill before the Assembly.
Nearly 80 people, including lawmakers, religious and civic a ctivists, filled the seats of a legislative hearing room Monday to support AB 67 and learn more about the state of sex trafficking in Nevada.
Assemblyman Michael Sprinkle, D-Sparks, says there were 41 reported cases of sex trafficking in Nevada last year. Two women in the room of 80 told the crowd about their daughters' victimization and involvement with sex trafficking.
Rev. Camille Pentsil says the socioeconomic status of children and their families has little to no bearing on their risk of being trafficked.
