Sickness: Scarlet fever and diphtheria are raging in Carson... A temporary closing of the public schools might have a good effect of checking the spread of the disease in a measure. It behooves every family who has little ones to care for to disinfect the house. Carbolic acid diluted with water sprinkled about the house or allowed to stand in saucers half-filled with sawdust, fumes of burning tar and bags of camphor hung about the necks of persons liable to contagion are excellent to ward off the disease.
