Obituary: Leo W. Knutson

Leo W. Knutson, 91, passed away Jan. 12, 2013 in Reno, Nev.

Leo was born Aug. 15, 1921 in Canton, S. D. to Carl and Agnes Knutson. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army proudly serving during WWII. Leo worked as an athletic trainer at the Buena High School in Ventura, Calif. for eighteen years. Leo loved the children at the school, he was always available to lend a hand or just listen giving of himself freely to benefit anyone in need. To this day many of the children he helped still stay in contact with him. Family always came first to Leo.

He and his wife, Shirley moved to Carson City, Nev. in 1990 from Ventura, Calif.

Leo was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Knutson.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty-three years, Shirley; one son, Larry Knutson. Four grandchildren, Heather Brooks, Tory Knutson, Erica Steele and Christopher MacMahon. Two great grandchildren, Cody and Mariah Brooks.

There will be a funeral service for Leo at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City, Nev. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Walton's Carson Gardens cemetery.
