Initial jobless claims fall

Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Nevada during December fell 7.3 percent from their level a year earlier, the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said last week.

Bill Andersen, chief economist for the department, said the figures are a sign that the labor market is continuing to firm.

For all of 2012, initial claims for unemployment insurance in Nevada ran 6.3 percent lower than a year earlier.
