Tom Henderson will lead a walking lecture about the history of trees in Carson City 6 p.m. Thursday at the Capitol Grounds.
The Carson City Historical Society will present a walking lecture about the history of trees in Carson City at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The presentation will begin at the Carson City Library Auditorium, 900 N. Roop St., with a 20- to 30-minute slide show presentation by Kyle Horvath, head of Panacea Planning Group.
Tom Henderson, a certified tree risk assessor and an ISA-certified arborist, will present the rest of the lecture at the Capitol Grounds.
Henderson will share insights into what the fossil record shows of some of the area’s earliest tree species.
The tour will highlight many of the Eastern ornamental trees planted in the 1800s and the 25 Nevada champion trees in Carson City.
Henderson is the president and owner of Healthy Trees Inc. He is the founder of Fruit Barons, a group of volunteers who pick fruit and donate the harvest to several local charitable organizations.
The presentation, part of a planned series of “third Thursday” lectures by the Carson City Historical Society, is free.
