Bison fire contained

Firefighters got a line all the way around the Bison fire a day early, with full containment reported on Saturday, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch.

The 24,136-acre Bison fire has been burning in the Pine Nut Mountains since the Fourth of July.

A third firefighter was hurt after twisting a knee in the rugged terrain. The cost to date to fight the fire is $7.1 million as the number of firefighters decreased to 417.

Five helicopters, an air tanker are supporting 10 handcrews, 10 engines, two water tenders and a bulldozers.

Firefighters are continuing to patrol the area, mop up, and conduct fire line rehabilitation, fire officials said.

Fire officials are asking that residents stay clear of the burned areas for the next few days while firefighters finish their work.
