Carson Tahoe designated a ‘baby-friendly’ facility

Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has been recognized as a baby-friendly birth facility. The designation is awarded to facilities that adhere to breastfeeding standards set by Baby-Friendly USA, a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, according to a news release.

EmpRes Healthcare buys No Place Like Home

Employee-owned EmpRes Healthcare is buying No Place Like Home Senior Care in Gardnerville from its founder, Rick Ackerson. Employees at No Place Like Home will join the EmpRes Healthcare team, so clients shouldn’t notice any changes in the services. EmpRes Healthcare will look to expand the business.

Kelly Horgan joins Eagle Home Mortgage

Kelly Horgan has joined Eagle Home Mortgage.

With more than 20 years of mortgage banking experience, Horgan is a member of LeTip International, an active networking group. She is a Reno native.

Preservation grant recipients announced

The State Historic Preservation Office will distribute more than $180,000 to government agencies and nonprofit organizations statewide to support historic building rehabilitation or restoration, public education, surveys, planning and National Register nominations.

Carson City and the Nevada State Museum are among the grant recipients. Others include Fallon, Henderson, Reno, the Nevada Rock Art Foundation, Storey County, the Comstock Cemetery Foundation, the Nevada Indian Commission and Nevada State Parks.

Applications for grants in 2014 will be available in October and will be accepted through Dec. 6. For more information about the projects, go to www.nvshpo.org.
