Zimmerman was protecting himself

In response to Joshua Dealy’s letter of July 17 (“God won’t forgive Zimmerman’s actions”), I submit the following.

First off, I do believe in God very much. There are times that I do not agree with jury verdicts. So be it. This time I am in full agreement with the Zimmerman jury. I just wonder what Dealy would do if he was in Mr. Zimmerman’s place and someone was smashing his head against the concrete trying to kill him. Would he put his faith in God and ask God to help him? What if no help was coming?

Personally, if I was in Mr. Zimmerman’s place, and I pray that it never happens, I would quickly put my faith in either Colt or Smith & Wesson. When my life is at stake, all bets are off. Let’s save God’s fury for those who would murder innocent people, not people who are trying to save their own or someone else’s life.

Don’t raise rates for sewer plant

Went to the so called “forum meeting” about the $35 million they want to spend on the new sewer plant, and I could not understand what they were trying to explain. I’m guessing that the plant was worn out; it looks like they neglected it. Proper maintenance wasn’t done, and the 2 percent they were saving was not spent for the maintenance needed. Don’t know where the rest of the money went.

A sewer plant like this one should be 100 percent operational at all times, not neglected. Maybe they don’t know how to change a few pipes once in a while? Running this plant to the ground is not the answer — a better maintenance program is. They want to raise the sewer rate 15 percent for 25 years to pay for a new plant. Give me a break.
