Thanks to those who cleaned downtown

Gardnerville’s “Let’s Sweep the Town” work day held on May 11 was a huge success. Thank you to all 28 members of the Minden Rotary, Main Street Gardnerville volunteers and Town staff for spending their Saturday morning cleaning up the downtown main street district.

This work day event was scheduled before the first Thirsty Third Thursday wine walk on May 16 and the upcoming Carson Valley Days weekend. The town plans on hanging the main street flower baskets the last week of May.

The work crews painted sign poles, light poles and cleaned up planter areas on Eddy Street, Toler Lane, in front of the town office, Gilman Island and Heritage Park Gardens. Town staff and volunteers also cleaned up the Eagle Gas station, the old Magoo’s building on Eddy Street and weeded numerous areas along the Highway 395 corridor. Town staff used the street sweeper to pick up all the debris that was swept into the highway gutter from the event.

A big thank you goes out to all those who participated in this year’s “Let’s Sweep the Town” work day. Downtown Gardnerville is now ready for the summer activities.
