Government coddles illegal immigrants

Again as in the past, while pretending to hold people accountable for the 2008 financial meltdown, our government is putting on a song and dance show pertaining to immigration reform.

My perspective of watching the government’s past actions is when a situation arises that affects the United States and its citizens our government spends millions of dollars with this elaborate “ruse” trying to make it seem they are addressing and resolving these important issues. Yet in the end nobody has ever been charged or situations changed. As one major investigator so elegantly put it justifying these lack of prosecutions, “We cannot hold anyone in upper management accountable in fears of this action causing the whole banking institution to implode.”

Our government has been trying precisely these same actions in the current “immigration” reform with some variations in our past to allow the millions here illegally to be allowed a path to American citizenship.

If anyone here illegally is allowed by our government to legally receive every entitlement allowed to American citizens, why would they “come out of the shadows” to pursue citizenship?

I agree with the defense that the American Civil Liberties Union is using our Constitution, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” But I also agree that our Constitution requires everyone to follow our set laws.

Obama’s legacy: Lies, cover-ups and scandal

Is this any way to run the greatest country in the history of the world? Our campaigner-in-chief and his corrupt administration are well on the way to being one of the worst administrations in history. Obama obviously has no clue on how to manage the number one economy in the world and his domestic and foreign policies are in shambles as he continues to travel the country and world in campaign fashion. Massive cover-ups, scandals and inept leadership will be his legacy.

Many Conservatives, including myself, were shocked when Obama won re-election in 2012. He had no record of achievements to stand on but still cruised to victory. We now know why as the IRS scandal unfolds to reveal Senate Democrats, IRS zealots and the Obama administration collaborated to suppress the Conservative “get out the vote” efforts. As much as the mainstream media tries to protect Obama from blame for any of his failed policies, Harry Truman had it right when he said, “The buck stops here.” It takes leadership to manage our great country and there is none in the Obama White House. When we have a president who is in a 100 percent campaign mode, it is all left up to his left wing appointees to run amok, and look what they have done to our country. Mitt Romney was not my first choice but if he had won, the country would be well on its way to recovery. We can only hope in 2016.

Problem isn’t Bible, it’s misinterpretation

The Holy Bible is the most analyzed and tested book in all of history. It has been authenticated by numerous secular authorities and theologians after making exhaustive textual analysis as to its internal uniformity and conformity, and after considering its external harmony with historical records and scientific evidence. Also, it has been uniquely validated through its prophetic revelations, including more than 330 prophecies about the promised Messiah, which were fulfilled only in one person: Jesus of Nazareth. Statistical probabilities of that phenomenon approaches infinity. No other ancient or recent “holy writings” can make these claims.

The problem isn’t with the Bible’s content, its writers or its canonization. The problem is with those who misinterpret and misrepresent it after a cursory review, or after watching Dan Brown’s 2003 movie “The Da Vinci Code.” Yes, some have “edited” it by writing their own translations to agree with their own religions. And yes, there is a problem with those of us who use it like a weapon of mass destruction. Shame on us. Apart from spiritual motivations, the rational approach to the Holy Bible should be to thoroughly read it, study it, investigate its value and then comment.

City manager serving his own interests first

Thank you for featuring the focus of the front page of the May 26 paper on Larry Werner, our current city manager. We have noticed some recent trends. Jim Shirk, supervisor, suggested that we seek a nationwide search for a deputy city manager, assuming it is even needed.

Apparently Larry Werner rejected that idea. He instead quickly hired a person from the Health Department that would not likely know anything about what he was doing. Was he afraid of someone coming in from the outside and asking questions of our city that no one could answer? Did Jim Shirk scare him? Were the supervisors informed of this process? Is Larry going to retire ... and when? He doesn’t even live in this city.
