Wine and daylilies used as a lure for FISH donors

Wine & Daylilies Daze, a fundraiser for FISH, will offer wine, flowers, songs and more on tap.

Participants can partake of wines from Tahoe Ridge Winery south of Carson City, enjoy refreshments by Linda Marrone and listen to the music of Barbara Baxter.

Marrone is the Carson City Farmer’s Market manager; Baxter is a Northern Nevada jazz singer.

Also on hand to display his wares and answer questions will be Jeff Corbett, a California daylilies hybridizer.

Carson City’s Chef Don Pepe of Carpa NV LLC will be there with his imported Portuguese olive oils. The chef is Jose Noriega-Paz, a member of the FISH board.

Shasta Leonard, a local licensed massage therapist, will provide chair massages. In addition, there will be raffles and a silent auction.

“It’s the time of year when people forget about the homeless; they’re planning their vacations,” FISH director Jim Peckham said, so this event gives them an opportunity to help the needy.

Peckham said a similar event last year that also featured wine and Corbett with his daylilies attracted about 300 people. His goal is to equal or exceed that turnout this year.
