38 law officers graduate from academy in Carson City; ceremony at 11 a.m.

Thirty-eight of Nevada’s newest law enforcement officers are ready to report for duty.

After spending nearly six months at the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s training academy in Carson City, nearly three dozen officers have been cleared for graduation today.

They planned to received their badges and recite their official oath of office to serve and protect the state of Nevada during a formal ceremony at the Carson Nugget Casino at 11 a.m.

Twelve of the graduates have been assigned to the Division of Parole & Probation. The other 26 will begin their careers with the Nevada Highway Patrol Division. They include trainees from Las Vegas, Reno, Elko, Ely, Winnemucca, Wendover, Tonopah, Hawthorne, Pahrump, Alamo and Indian Springs.
