A fire at Hamilton, White Pine County, destroyed nearly all the business part of the place. The dispatch says that all below Wells Fargo & Co., Woodruff and Ennor’s Stage Office is in ashes.

The rivalry between the stage lines to Lake Tahoe gas gives tourists faster time than ever before. The stages with six horses on each go up and down on the dead run remind us of the old Placerville days when it was worth a dollar a minute to sit next to the stage driver and spin along at ten miles an hour.

Notice to water consumers from the Carson Water Company: Owing to unprecedented scarcity of water, South of Robinson Street will water Monday, Wednesday and Fridays between 4 and 8 p.m. North of Robinson Street will water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between the same hours. On Sunday everyone can water from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A rescue party guided by two-way radio crept up the rugged slopes of Carson Peak today toward the wreckage of a huge army bomber. The bomber, a Liberator, was at the 10,000 foot level between Carson Peak and Tioga Pass.

Hundreds of residents attended the funeral of Daniel E. McDaniel, Ormsby County deputy sheriff for four years, who was killed in an automobile accident. McDaniel was in his patrol car when he was rear ended.

The Indian Creek Reservoir Campground in Markleeville has been closed after a ground squirrel was found with bubonic plague.
