AGC awards honor top construction work

Northern Nevada construction companies will be honored for their top projects in the past year during the 14th annual Pinnacle Awards ceremony sponsored by the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Harrah’s in downtown Reno.

General-engineering contractors and building contractors will compete for Pinnacle Awards in two divisions — projects of more than $5 million and projects of less than $5 million.

Specialty contractors compete for Pinnacle Awards in an over-$500,000 division and an under-$500,000 division.

Projects within those divisions compete in three categories:

• Meeting the challenge of a difficult job;

• Sensitivity to environment, history or culture;

• Excellence in client service.

The luncheon also will feature the AGC Partnering Award, modeled after National AGC’s Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award. The award will honor eligible contractors for their ability to resolve conflicts, their practice of quality communications with stakeholders and their ability to get many groups to achieve one goal.

The Pinnacle Awards program was established in 1999 by the Nevada Chapter AGC to honor the “Best of the Best” in northern Nevada construction projects. Independent judges measure entries based on safety, craftsmanship, challenges met, client relations, innovation and “green” building practices.

The AGC includes approximately 300 member companies.
