Nevada Day committee seeking youth charity recommendations

The third annual Nevada Day Governor’s Banquet is set for Thursday, Oct. 24. The event will kick off the celebration of Nevada’s 149th birthday.

The events will culminate with the 75th annual Nevada Day Parade on Saturday, Oct. 26. This year’s theme will be “Honoring Nevada’s Past and Building Nevada’s Future”.

With the theme in place, the Nevada Day Board of Directors is seeking a statewide children’s charity to benefit from portions of the proceeds raised at this year’s banquet.

The public can submit ideas of suitable children’s charities that benefit the youth of Nevada by visiting and following the submission insturctions.

“This is not a contest of a competition,” a press release for the board says. “It is simply a way for the board to gather as much information ... before making a final decision.”

Submission deadline in July 9.
