Restaurant fundraiser is March 16 for Carson City woman’s orphaned son

A local car and mini-truck club plans a fundraiser March at Johnny Rockets for the son of a Carson City woman who died in an apparent road-rage incident.The Freaks of Nature club will hold the fundraiser for Desiree Bragg’s son inside and outside of Johnny Rockets, and the car club will have cars displayed in front of the restaurant and a DJ outside, club secretary Yvette Lopez said.“Friends are bringing out their cars,” she said. All outdoor festivities are weather-permitting. Johnny Rockets will donate 20 percent of its proceeds between 12 and 4 p.m. In addition, it will host a raffle. Tickets can be purchased at the event. The fundraiser also will accept cash and material donations to help raise Bragg’s 6-month-old son. Monetary donations will go into an account set up at the Greater Nevada Credit Union to help pay for her son Tristan’s education.Bragg, a 2011 Carson High School graduate, died from her injuries Jan. 30 at a Reno hospital, four days after a 28-year-old Carson City man allegedly pinned her against the side of her mother's house with his car. Leonardo Cardoza had allegedly tailgated Bragg and her fianc for 2 miles on Highway 50; he faces a murder charge and has a hearing set for March 22.A haircut and bake-sale fundraiser held Saturday in Reno raised an estimated $5,020.
