All sorts: Doc Benton’s stage now connects with the Glenbrook steamer. The Chronicle reports ore has been uncovered in the Chollar. The county prisoners are being made to earn their board by cleaning the streets.

The Leisure Hour Club is erecting a new building. Instead of having a contract on this building, it will be erected by day labor, and brick and concrete blocks are to be used. It will give the club a very comfortable home and will be used for small entertainments, house parties and by this club for its regular and special meetings.

70 Years Ago

Governor’s Day was observed at the University of Nevada with rendition of honors to Gov. E.P. Carville. The official party and the cadet aide to the governor assembled in front of Morrill Hall and then proceeded to Mackay stadium for the military review.

Consideration of Great Western Corporation’s plan to acquire four blocks of Carson City streets for the Carson City Nugget was postponed … The Nugget wants to buy Spear Street between Fall and Stewart Streets, and Fall Street between Robinson and Proctor to provide more space for parking.
