Our nation was founded for free, not forced, religion

Bill, Democrats did not add the word “God” to the Democratic platform because the Democratic Party is the party of inclusion and diversity. Whatever your economic class, religious affiliation, or racial background you are welcome in the Democratic Party. Our forefathers could have written a state-sponsored religion into the Constitution, but they didn’t. Why? Have you forgotten that many Puritans left England due to religious persecution? Google the Danbury Baptist congregation letter to Jefferson and you’ll understand why we have an Establishment Clause in the First Amendment.

Your statement that man has walked this earth only 10,000 years is pure hogwash. Homo sapiens appeared about 200,000 years ago in the country we now call Ethiopia (Nature, 2005). Sir Francis Crick, Nobel laureate and co-discoverer of the DNA double helix said, “One of the most frightening things in the Western world, and in this particular country, is the number of people who believe in things that are scientifically false. If someone tells me that the earth is 10,000 years old, in my opinion they should seek psychiatric help.”

Learn a little science, Bill. Look at the moon with decent binoculars and count the craters. If you don’t realize the scientific implication of this plain fact then let’s meet and I’ll explain it to you over a beer. The craters were not produced by Satan and God throwing asteroids at each other. The supernatural cosmic cafeteria food fight never happened. So Bill, how were those craters formed?
