Lunch offered to military personnel

The Carson Valley Inn will hold a free spaghetti lunch for veterans and active military, plus one guest per military personnel, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Valley Ballroom.

Following a Veterans Day colors presentation at 11 a.m., Father Paul McCollum, pastor of Saint Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville, will give an invocation, and Kimora Whitacre will sing the national anthem. The feed offers pasta, meatballs marinara, salad, garlic bread sticks and pumpkin pie.

This is the third year the Carson Valley Inn has hosted a spaghetti lunch on Veterans Day. The two previous events drew more than 500 people each, according to a news release.

Veteran and military identification cards must be presented upon entry to receive the free lunch. For more information, go to www.carsonvalleyinn.com.

Virginia City honors veterans with parade

Virginia City will hold its annual Veterans Day parade at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

This year’s grand marshal is local Korean War Veteran Floyd Seymour. The parade, takes place along C Street.

Immediately following the parade a spaghetti feed is held at the Storey County Senior Center, 100 Mill St. All service men and women are invited to attend.
