Bear caught, released Saturday in Carson City

There were two calls on a bear wondering around Carson City Friday night.

Originally seen near Saliman Road and Railroad Drive, it was in an open field and later Carson City sheriff’s deputies were able to keep the 225-pound, 2-year-old female bear in a tree at Roop Street and Little Lane till game warden Jake Kreamer arrived around 2 a.m. Saturday.

The bear was tagged and released on Saturday.

Kreamer said sheriff’s deputies had training on handling wildlife in town a couple years ago and they utilized that training.
