Abraham Curry (continued from Wednesday). When the history of Western Nevada comes to be written, the name of Abraham Curry will follow close to the Grosch Brothers, Comstock, and Ormsby. Restless energy seizes men like Curry and prompts them to partake of a flush life like that was found here. The fittest and most inviting field of operations that Curry ever came across was Eagle Valley. He came here and was in his element (continued Friday).

Letter from Greenfield (continued from Wednesday). Sugar Beets came in at 28 pounds; squashes, 75 pounds. Turnips were as big as 19 pounds with potatoes and carrots larger than a man’s head. The races were only fair with the finest horse on the track being “Bullet Neck” (continued Friday).

100 years ago

Over 80 million feet of timber was cut from the national forests of district four last fiscal year, according to the forest service. The above amount was cut under sales and free use and is a considerable increase over the previous year.

70 years ago

Twenty-four folding chairs are greatly needed by Girl Scout No. 3 and Boy Scout Troop No. 33 for their meeting room in the Supreme Court building. This urgent appeal was sent out when it was found chairs were needed so the scout troops could be more comfortable. Donators are urged to call Mrs. Jack Johnson or Scoutmaster Roy Wise.

50 years ago

Citations to court will be given to all duck or goose hunters who are found with a redhead or canvasback in possession during the balance of the 1963-64 waterfowl season. Nearly 40 warnings were given to Fallon hunters during the first three days. Illegal ducks were also confiscated.

Approval for the final phase of design for improvements at the sewage treatment plant was granted by the Board of Supervisors.
