A 41-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple drug- and gun-related felonies.
According to his arrest report:
A deputy noticed the driver of a Chevy sedan was speeding on Fifth Street. He pulled over Franklin Trevino and reported smelling a small marijuana odor coming from the vehicle.
After Trevino got out of the car, the deputy noticed a handgun on the driver’s seat. Trevino acknowledged that he’d had the gun, which was loaded, for at least a couple of days.
After the car was impounded, Special Enforcement Team deputies found a small bag containing a small amount of methamphetamine, a meth pipe, a used marijuana pipe, a spoon with residue on it and 27 Lisinopril prescription pills.
The Department of Motor Vehicles confirmed Trevino had a suspended driver’s license for failing to pay child support. He was arrested on suspicion of felon in possession of a loaded gun, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, felon failure to register, driving on a suspended license, basic speeding, failure to maintain single lane and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail was set at $27,045.
His passenger, a 26-year-old transient, was arrested on suspicion of felon failure to register and possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $1,100.
