Bradley Crowell, a capital city native and graduate of Carson High, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Department of Energy’s assistant secretary for congressional and intergovernmental affairs.
The son of Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell and his spouse, Susan, he has been with the department since 2010.
He had been the principal deputy assistant secretary for congressional and intergovernmental affairs and deputy assistant secretary for Senate Affairs. Elevation to his new post was confirmed by the Senate Oct. 16.
Before joining the department in 2010, he was senior policy adviser with U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island.
He began work in the District of Columbia as a staff member in the office of Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., from 1999-2001. He also held other policy posts in Washington. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University.
In his new role, Crowell will help promote departmental goals by working with stakeholders in Congress, states and localities nationwide, according to Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.
