Day of the Dead celebration is Saturday

Nevada State Museum will celebrate Día de Los Muertos from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2. The holiday, also known as Day of the Dead, is a multicultural celebration of life, through death, for families.

The museum’s ninth annual observance will feature video, crafts, songs, folkloric dance and special exhibits. Families are encouraged to make ofrendas, displays that include memorabilia from the departed person, with samples of favorite foods, symbols and remembrances of things people loved. Participants also will craft sugar skulls that honor deceased loved ones.

Admission is $8 for adults and free for museum members and children 17 and younger. For more information, send an email to dstevenson@nevadaculture.org; call 775-687-4810, ext. 237; or go to nevadaculture.org. The museum is at 600 N. Carson St.
