Nevada Day Governor’s Banquet set for Oct. 24 at Grand Sierra Resort

The third annual Nevada Day Governor’s Banquet to launch the yearlong celebration of Nevada’s sesquicentennial is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Grand Sierra Resort’s Summit Pavilion. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The event offers door prizes; silent and live auctions; live entertainment; dinner; photo opportunities; presentations by Gov. Brian Sandoval and other speakers; and a slideshow presentation of historical photos of Nevada. Live auction items include a guitar autographed by the Rolling Stones and other memorabilia; a trip for two to the U.S. Open in North Carolina; a violin bass autographed by Paul McCartney; and a trip for two to any NFL regular season game.

Tickets cost $50 each or $450 for tables of 10 and are available to people 16 and older. Tickets can be purchased at www.nevadaday.com, at the Nevada Day office at 108 W. Telegraph St. or at Grand Sierra Resort’s box office.

NV 150 Board of Commissioners is the event’s sponsor. Some proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Children’s Cabinet of Nevada.

This year, the Nevada Day celebration officially begins Oct. 25. The 75th annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 26 on Carson Street. For more information or to make a donation for the auction, go to the Nevada Day website or call 775-882-2600.
