Nevada welfare applications to go offline

(AP) — Nevada’s website to apply for welfare assistance, food stamps and Medicaid is being taken off line later this month so the system can be integrated with the state’s new online health insurance exchange.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services says the public assistance application website, Access Nevada, will be down Sept. 21-30. It will be back online Oct. 1.

During that time, people seeking assistance will need to submit a paper application. Forms are available on the division’s website, a local welfare offices or a family resource center.
